About me

Welcome Session Details

I am a photographer situated in between Porth and Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valleys, South Wales. I specialise in portrait photography and specifically newborn’s. I have a warm, comfortable studio at home which I’ve designed to assist in giving me the best shots required of you or your newborn and also make you feel welcome with a hot or cold beverage available on request.

I studied photography at the University of Glamorgan and since then, it’s become a passion of mine, where I go, my camera comes with me.

Babies are only babies for a short time. Which means capturing those precious moments with the next chapter in your life, a little bit more special. As babies grow so fast, capturing his or hers tiny feet or hands, so you never have to forget them again will bring those memories flooding back and a smile on your face.

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under 14 days of age. Why you ask? Well, mainly because after 14 days, babies are a little harder to settle and things like colic and baby acne can start to flare up. It’s not always possible to take the photos in the first 14 days so we’ll just need a bit more patience to get your little one settled if so, which isn’t an issue. You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date, I will then make a flexible booking and when you arrive home from hospital with your brand new baby you can contact me to arrange a suitable time and day for your session.

My studio in the Rhondda Valleys has everything that I require. It's designed to not only be comfortable for your baby, but for yourself also. How long do the sessions take?

The newborn sessions can take 2-4 hours. Safety is paramount, so therefore it's key we take our time to ensure not only that we get the best shots, but your baby is kept safe, warm and comfortable. We also need to allow enough time for feeding and comforting. How much will the session cost?

My newborn sessions vary and costs can be viewed in the pricing package details. A £50 deposit is required to book your place. I've tried to make my pricing as clear as possible, so if you have any queries, then please just let me know. Details of what you'll get from the session can be found below:

  • Full session in my studio lasting between 2-4 hours.
  • Access to my range of decorations and props for your newborn.
  • Between 40-100 images which will have been carefully edited to give the best impact visually.
  • Access to baby feeding apparatus, such as a Tommee Tippee perfect prep.
  • Unlimited supply of tea, coffee or cold drinks. Which ever you prefer.

So once you and your baby are comfortable, just let me know when you would like to schedule the photoshoot and I’ll then come back to you to confirm the date.

The newborn sessions usually start at 10am. Prior to that, if you could try to keep the baby alert in the morning prior to the photoshoot and feed him or her just before you arrive so they are nice and sleepy. The more they sleep, the more poses we can get in.

All babies though are different and this time can be stressful and I certainly won’t be in a rush, so we’ll take our time to ensure we’re happy with the range of photos we have.

If you could ensure that you bring plenty of spare nappies, feeds if bottle fed and soothers if required.

Finally, I wish you all the best with this exciting time for you and your family. Good luck and speak soon.

As well as newborn photoshoots, I also take booking for maternity/bump photos. I usually recommend booking in advance and we’ll arrange a date for when you’re 30-34 weeks pregnant.

This is totally dependent on the individual though and some like to have them later, some earlier. However and whenever you feel comfortable, then just let me know.

As these packages are getting more popular, I offer a discounted rate should you book both the maternity and the newborn photoshoot. Prices can be found on my website.
